House Pool
One of the main match pools with 34 pegs, the House pool is well stocked with over 140,000 fish including F1 Carp, Common Carp, Mirror Carp, Roach, Bream, Tench, Chub, Perch and Golden Orffe. When the lake was built, the first batch of Carp put in were 4" to 6". They are now coming out at 2lbs and over. In addition to the original stocks there are also some hefty Carp in the pool up to and over 20lbs with many between 2lb and 10lb. This pool also holds a lot of F1 Carp, which make up the bulk of match weights. They average between 6oz and 2lb. Match weights in summer regularly go over the 150lb mark. There are islands all round this pool. The depth is approximately 5ft to 6ft deep. The margins are good for Carp, Bream and Tench. F1 Carp, Roach, Perch and Bream can all be caught at 6mtrs. The fish will come up in the water when the weather improves and gets warmer. This pool is popular with the pleasure anglers who like to fish the method or a Waggler as a feeder to the island using dead maggot is a good way to catch big carp. The match, and venue, highest match recorded weight for House pool is 385lb.
